'When she is meant to be there, she will be there...'

Was rotting at home on Saturday for the 1st time in a very long time. Watched MTV channel and there is this challenge where 6 people took part and started to bond together and work as a team and win as a team. There is one scene when two guys are talking and one guy is only 20 yr old, Patrick and he was like telling the other guy that he loves his GF a lot, wish and can see that he would marry her in the future and it seems like Patrick is having problem with his GF now. The other older guy, Derrick is telling Patrick that he is still young and told Patrick 'When she is meant to be there, she will be there....' I hope someone will know what I am trying to tell him about this sentence here.

The feeling sucks when you know someone is miserable and yet there is nothing you can do.
